Новости: International Conference on Marine Medicine and Allied Sciences.
On October 14-15, 2023, the annual international conference on marine medicine and related sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Conference) was held in Mumbai (Republic of India). The conference was held at the Ashwini Naval Hospital (photo 1). The conference was attended by six foreign delegations: the Russian Federation, Great Britain, Vietnam, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Saudi Arabia (photo 2). The total number of participants was 320 people.

Vice Admiral Medical Services Arti Sarin (Surg VAdm Arti Sarin) - Director General Medical Services (Indian Navy), President of the Naval Medical Society, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Armed Forces Medical College), Doctor of Medicine (Radio Diagnostics), National Diplomate Board of Medical Examiners (Radiation Oncology).
5. Rear Admiral of the Medical Service Vivek Hande Surg (RAdm Vivek Hande) - Commander of the Ashwini Military Medical School, a graduate of the Armed Forces Medical College and the National Defense College. He is the Chief Gastroenterologist and Physiologist of the Indian Navy.
The conference began with a welcoming speech from the Commander of the Western Fleet of the Indian Navy, who, together with the NMS of the Indian Navy, presented valuable gifts, cash bonuses and certificates of honor to the medical service officers of the Indian Navy for the year 2023 (photo 4, 5).

During the opening of the Conference, members of the presidium made a presentation of the latest issue of the scientific and practical journal “Journal of Marine Medical Society”, published in India. (photo 6)

The Conference discussed current issues of the development of naval medicine in the Asia-Pacific region, modern approaches to telemedicine. The head of the delegation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Colonel of the Medical Service I.G. Mosyagin, made a report on the topic: “The use of artificial respiratory gas mixtures in naval medicine,” which was highly appreciated by all participants of the Conference (photo 7). In addition, the Russian side presented and donated the scientific and practical peer-reviewed journal “Marine Medicine” No. 2 to the Indian side and all foreign participants, and an invitation was made to publish in a Russian specialized journal. As part of the Conference, the Russian delegation held bilateral meetings with representatives of the Indian and Vietnamese navies.

During a meeting with the Indian Navy delegation, Vice Admiral of the Medical Service Arti Sarin (Director General of the Medical Service of the Indian Navy) expressed interest in conducting bilateral exercises with elements of providing assistance to the wounded and affected at sea, evacuation from the sea to coastal medical facilities. The next International Conference on Marine Medicine will be held at the Ashwini Naval Hospital, Mumbai, India in 2024.
