LIFESTYLE AND BEHAVIORAL STEREOTYPES INFLUENCING THE HEALTH CONDITIONS OF NAVY PERSONNEL UNDER PRESENT-TIME CONDITIONS

Anonymous questionnaires were used to obtain the subjective judgments about lifestyles of contracted Navy personnel. Comparing with judgments obtained in the same way in 2007 reveals significant changes in lifestyles. Most respondents (83,7%) self-report that they are physically fit. This proportion is 20% higher than before the active phase of the military reform started. More than half of respondents (55,8%) are engages in endurance training on a regular basis. The proportion of military men engaged in all sports and physical culture activities has increased by more than 20% in the recent years. Positive trends in attitudes to adverse habits, regular medical examinations, and healthy lifestyle are noticeable. However, factor analysis suggests that health strategies that are either unpromising, inefficient or incompatible with military service are still predominant among navy personnel.
